Dangwa Initiative is an organization born out of a concern of the ripple effects caused by the devastation of HIV/AIDS on the girl children of Zimbabwe and Sub-Sahara Africa. As a Christian based organization get our inspiration from James 1:27 which states, "Pure and undefiled religion before God our Father is to take care of widows and orphans in their time of need...". We provide services that elevate AIDS orphan girls in particular as we feel they are most at risk because they are often the victims of ignorance and unfair traditional practices. Such practices include the non-education of girls and the giving of girls to marriage at an early age. Dangwa Initiative believes that education should be provided to all children equally. It is said that the education of girls is the cornerstone of development in any society. We believe that when a girl gets a basic education, they are more likely to grow up healthy. They are also more likely to have stable household incomes resulting in empowerment and stronger communities.

Our strong belief in strengthening family structures and utilizing non-traditional models to fight against AIDS is what sets us apart. Through our AIDS orphans outreach program, Precious Stones, (Rev 21:19) we serve girls in rural Zimbabwe. We support the children in the ways we feel make the most impact, education; economic development and community empowerment.
